Spirulina (Spirulina platensis) is a microscopic plant cultivated and harvested in ponds. After harvesting it is dried using a natural process of spray evaporation to create Spirulina powder. It typically takes around 10kg of fresh Spirulina algae to produce only 1kg of the final powder product.
Spirulina is well known as a rich source of protein, containing up to 63%, with all nine of the essential amino acids in abundance.
Spirulina contains chromium, iron and magnesium which help contribute to improved immune system function, bone and muscle health and provides blood sugar support. This remarkable blue-green algae is also enriched in calcium, which helps maintain a healthy digestive system. It also has high levels of iodine and zinc, which also contribute to healthy hair, skin and nails.
